Taco Hangover is usually great food and a great atmosphere. Right next to the bike trail, it's a great place to go when there's good weather. Tacos are fantastic and interesting. I ordered a "fire burger" once and it was not spicy (I think the server got the order wrong), but that is my only bad experience. The guacamole is good, but they don' t serve free chips and salsa with every meal (like many other places similar to it).
I go here pretty frequently, and while the service is pretty variable (sometimes great, sometimes mediocre), the food is almost always the same - really delicious. The drinks are good, too. It's usually pretty crowded/loud, so sometimes it's hard to find seats as a large party. I'll continue to be a regular, and hopefully it will be less busy with the new locations open.
Only order from the Hangover Taco section of the menu. Those tacos are really good ... The entree part of the menu is just heaps of flavorless refried beans sprinkled with other ingredients. It didn't help that there was a pretty bad band playing bad dude rock songs on the patio.
I don't typically give out 5 stars, but Taco Hangover deserves it. The food is delicious and reasonably priced, a wraparound bar and TV's everywhere, and the patio outside is the best in WDM. The tacos are very unique and are mildly addicting, not as addicting as I've heard meth is but I'd assume it's close, they're that good.
By far the best time I have had at a restaurant in Des Moines. It was extremely hot today, but the best place to be was outdoors. The staff was having a great time, and so were the customers. The staff was so energetic, and so much fun that we will be back just for that. The food is always amazing, but the staff really made the stop.
Good taco. I had one. Al Pastor. It was good, had a tad too much fat on the meat to throw off the mouth feel. It's a bit pricey, but the quality of complimentary chips and sauce makes up for it. I'd come back to try the rest of the taco line up.
Great food, decent margaritas. Staff was super friendly, albeit a bit slow. Also, the patio seating was playing music at a rather ridiculously high level considering there were maybe 15-20 people in the large seating area. It was happy hour, though, so I guess that's to be expected. Still, I give five stars for how phenomenal the beer can chicken taco was.
So glad our GPS took us here randomly on a road trip to Kansas! The food was outstanding, drinks were cold, and the ourdoor patio had me feeling like I was in Mexico with the sun shining down, and chill music playing. Wish we would have hit it on the way home!
Service is a hit or miss. Sometimes it has been great and others it was like we weren't even sitting there....waiting. Margaritas are good but very sweet. Tacos are delicious. Fun place to go in the summer when the patio is open!
Amazing tacos, delicious queso, energetic and laid back atmosphere!
Attractive interior. Food was decent. Unfortunate that all tacos are garnished the same, detracts from the personality of each.
This was my second time at Taco Hangover. On my first visit I was not impressed. The tacos ended up looking better than they actually tasted and service was just okay. I also think their tacos are over priced. The 3 tacos I chose ended up behind $14. This time around I skipped the tacos and got the Mexican Cobb salad. It was very good. It was good sized and all the ingredients were fresh. The meat was warm, but not so hot it wilted all the greens. Service was also excellent this time.
Far too pricey for what you get. If you have money to blow, this is your place. Otherwise, find somewhere reasonably priced for better food.
Good selection of tacos and margaritas, outdoor patio space is great in the warmer months
